Lexmark X73 Compatability?

Stephanie

Lexmark was aware of issues with the X73 and Windows XP,
and they anticipated problems. Unfortunatley, the problem
I am having is not common to them. Their tech support and
I have drawn the conclusion that the printer is
functioning properly- but it is my computer system which
is not communicating with the printer.
Has anyone else encountered these problems? Is there any
way to install a driver/patch or something that will
solve this? Thanks in advance!

Do your USB Controllers appear to function with other hardware devices like
perhaps mouse, keyboard, digital camera or whatever else you connect to
them?

Yes ma'am. I have two USB ports on the front of my HP
Pavillion, and two in the back and they both work fine.
Infact, when I checked on my USB ports one noted that it
was specifically being used for Lexmark. So, it's as if
everything ought to work, only it dosn't. Every now and
again I can print one document, maybe two if I'm lucky.
Then the whole works shuts down. For instance today, when
I had Lexmark tech support on the phone I was able to
print a Test Page, one hour later I couldn't. I think my
plan of attack is to uninstall everything and all
Lexmark, download the Patch/Driver/Cleanup from the
Lexmark web site, then re-install... If that dosn't work
I'll be at a complete loss. Do you have any other ideas?

No help other than a kindred soul with the same problem
who has spent countless hours uninstalling and installing
the software. My hardware is ok. My scanner part of the
x73 works but I cannot load print and fax drivers for an
unknown reason. Only clue is that print spooler will not
start and RPC server is unavailable warning comes up when
trying to install using the wizard. The x73 and computer
dangerously close to exiting via the window!!!
