Lexmark x63 printer busy errors

I have a lexmark x63 multifunction printer. No matter what I do in the way
of installation, drivers, software, hardware, I keep getting these errors
"device is busy, try again later" Any suggestions, otherwise I like the
printer very much.

For some strange reason many X63's start doing this after a year or so. Many
have posted in the newsgroups about this problem, but very few solutions. I
basically junked mine and bought a HP Officejet. Haven't regretted it in the
least...
