Lexmark services & spoolsv slow startup

I have a Lexmark X5150 & I am running WinXP SP2. I have had significant
problems when I startup or restart my system since I installed the software
for the printer. This has been going on for about a year, but after much
trial & error, I found a work-around which is cumbersome but at least lets me
operate.

At first I thought my system was locking up when I would start-up. However,
I found that if I changed the service startup types for the Lexmark printer
and the Print Spooler from 'Automatic' to 'Manual', the system would come up
normally, afterwhich I would have to start them myself manually.

I then found that if I just left the system alone it would eventually
complete the startup procedure and would then operate normally. It would
take at least 20 minutes to startup Windows.

Then I found that if I left them 'Automatic', I could hit Alt-Ctl Delete
when the startup stalled and then end the 'spoolsv.exe' service, and Windows
would proceed to come up normally. 'Spoolsv.exe' would restart on its own,
and Windows would then run normally. Following are the 3 related services I
see after hitting Alt-Ctl Delete:
..........
C:\WINDOWS\system32\LEXBCES.EXE
C:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exe ---- (I end this service.)
C:\WINDOWS\system32\LEXPPS.EXE
..........

Is there a solution to this problem? I have searched extensively with no
success.

Absolutely. In fact I just did that yesterday. It was several months old &
I had already installed it.

Lexmark DRIVER or Lexmark SOFTWARE? If the later, get rid of it.

The software designers who work for hardware manufacturers are twerps. God
forbid you should ever put in the CD that comes with a Hewlit-Packard
camera!
