Leaving blank (black) sequence between 2 clips?

Hi,

I'm a new MM2 user so apologies if this is a simple question. I am creating a movie based on short clips. The initial clip comes with its own music and serves as a title. At the end, it fades to black and I would like to keep that black screen going while the music finishes (slightly longer) and I leave a small pause before starting the movie proper.

However, my clips remain stuck together in the timeline no matter how much I try to drag the second one away.

I don't have that problem with audio. I can place the audio clip where I want.

Can this be done for video? If so how?

Many thanks.

Just insert a black still image in between the two clips. If you dont have
one handy then just take the snap shot of black portion of your clip.

Create a BMP image in a program like Paint that is entirely black. Then import that picture into Movie Maker, and drag it onto the
timeline.

Hello there,

Unlike other programs, Movie Maker will not permit a gap between clips. The
solution is to use a bmp (bitmap) image created in Paint or any other program
you have....you can make it any colour you like so that it fits the video
clips. Once on the timeline you can grab the right hand side of the still and
stretch it sideways. This will increase the time that still is displayed.
Remember too that you can overlap the still image and the video and use either
the plain fade transition or one of the visual transitions.
