Last revision date

Ricki Miles

I am working in Word XP. Is there a way to show the last revision date? I
know there are fields for the revision number and last saved date, but what
consistitutes a last saved date? If I open a document, press Save without
editing the document and close it, will it update the last saved date? I
would like to know the date that the last revision was made.

TIA,

Ricki

Word 97 and above will not actually save a document (even though you press
Save) unless it has "changed." You can (usually) tell whether Word thinks a
document has changed by looking at the Undo button. If it's enabled (even if
the only Undo item available is Update Fields), then the document will be
saved; otherwise not.

This can be tricky, though, when you have fields (especially SaveDate or
PrintDate fields) in the document, because these fields will very likely be
updated (and certainly if you print the document), so you will be prompted
to save the document when you close, which you *don't* want to do if you
haven't actually edited it.
