What can kind of super machine is to handle that kind of file???

It's a theoretical limit imposed by the file system and data structures in
Outlook and is not practical for use. Microsoft advises against exceeding
the default upper limit of 20GB.

Thanks Brian. How well does the Unicode PST handle years worth of emails with lots of attachements,
compared to pre-2003 PSTs? Is it faster and more reliable?

Someone told me that OL 2003 and later have this size limit too,
unless "you do something special", although he didn't say what.

Nope. Unicode PSTs, the format Outlook 2003 uses natively, has a minimum
upper limit of 20GB, but that limit is controlled by a registry setting, so
it can get larger than that. The theoretical uppper limit is, I believe,
32TB

We have no one where I work with PSTs approaching the 20 GB limit, but some
who have several Gs of data and to the best of my knowledge, they're
satisfied enough with Outlook's performance. Most people here with "years"
worth of data tend to segment it for easier handling (like by year), but a
few don't and they seem to be happy enough.
