Laptop w/Win2000

I just purchased a used laptop with Windows 2000
Professional installed.
I have a home network with twe desktops, both with Win 98.
I can access both desktops from the laptop, but when trying
to access the laptop from either desktop,I am prompted for
a password.

Is there a way around this?

Does the Win98 machines have Client for Microsoft Networks installed
on them?
If so, have you created user accounts the WIN98 machines so they can
log into the workgroup, assuming the workgroup is the same as the W2K
machines?
Are the username(s) that you created for the WIN98 machines the same
as a username on the w2k machine you are trying to access?

Make sure all computers are in the same workgroup and that all useraccounts
exist on all computers (W2K/XP). Got File- and printersharing loaded? Is
Netbios over TCP/IP enabled (Advanced properties of TCP/IP, tab WINS)?

Create a user account on the win2k for each of the users logging into the
win98 computers. Use the identical username/password as used on the win98
computers. Log into the win98 computers with this username/password.

.

It is not necessary for all machines to be in the same
workgroup. The purpose of the workgroup name is only for
browsing. The workgroup name has absolutely nothing to do
with security.
