Laptop Trident Cyberblade i7 video card and projector

I have a Compaq Presario 1200XL that is used primarly for
PowerPoint slide shows. I recently upgraded it from it's
original Win98 OS to W2K Pro SP3.

The problem I have now is I can't view my screen on the
laptop display and an external projector/monitor at the
same time.

If I boot with the projector/monitor connected, the the
projector/monitor works just fine but the laptop display
is blank <the function F3 key doesn't respond>.

If I boot with no external display the laptop display
works fine but I can't view the external projector/monitor
<again the function F3 key doesn't respond>.

Compaq/HP tech support was of no help. They suggested a
new Trident video driver that wouldn't install.

I'm at a loss as to what to try next. Any help would be
greatly appreciated.

Sounds like this function is NOT supported by the
video driver under W2K. Did you check for hardware
compatability before you upgraded? It's NOT
always a "done deal"...

Revert back to W98.

Why wouldnt't the driver install? IF the reason was that it was a
Windows 2000 driver AND was NOT digitally signed, then go into Local
Security Policy and turn Digital Signing Requirement to Warn but
Succeed. Then install the updated driver.

I use a notebook(Not compaq) with TridentCyberBlade too, it can work both
LCD/CRT at same time. You may check the stting in BIOS, select LCD/CRT both.

When booted in to Windows, you check on your key board, there must be a key
'Fn" (normaly in blue color) and another function key with blue screen like
square screen usually on F1--F12. You press Fn and the screen key at same
time, the display output will cycled among LCD,CRT, LCD-CRT both. PLease
try. No need to reboot each time you wantto change the output at all.

Your problem has nothing to do with OS, no matter Win98, WIn2K,WinXP, DOS,
Linux, all can work in this way.
