Laptop 'strains' then shutsdown. Can anyone help!

My Tosiba Satellite laptop with Windows XP Home occasionally goes into a fit
and then shutsdown! I haven't been able to do a Virus scan with Trend Micro
Pc-cillin for awhile as it laptop shutsdown during scan.

Download Avast a/v and scan with that .

Interesting!
Sounds like you have the same problem as me.
I can't do a virus check without the machine shutting down.
Your PC doesn't have a 'Pentium M' by any chance?
