Laptop freezes when I shut lid

If I shut the lid of the laptop, the screen freezes (black) and I have to
reboot before I can get it working again. Any suggestions? I do have a screen
saver running, and I have my settings set so that when I shut the lid, the
computer does nothing, but it's obviously not doing "nothing."

Assuming you are using Windows Vista, it is a driver problem, to fix it do a
following;
1. Open â€Computer managementâ€
2. Open “Device Managerâ€
3. Expand “System Devicesâ€
4. Right Click “ACPI Lidâ€
5. Click “Update Driverâ€
6. Click “Browse Computerâ€
7. Click “Let me pick from a list on my computerâ€
8. Un tick “Show Compatible Hardwareâ€
9. Scroll to the bottom of the right hand box and click “Volume Managerâ€
10. Click “Yes†when Windows prompts you with security warnings
11. Reboot when Vista prompts you to do so
