laptop doesn't detect LAN card (ethernet card)

I have an ASUS F3Jm laptop, and when i got it, network connections showed a
firewire port, a wireless connection and a lan connection. Because i was
using the wireless network installed in my home, i disabled the lan
connection. When i tried to use an ethernet line to connect to my other
network, the lan connection disappeared, and i have no way of enabling the
connection. I am now stuff with my wireless connection. I was wondering how
to find my disabled ethernet connection.

Go to Device Manager (Start > Run > devmgmt.msc) and double click the
"Network adapters" entry. If the wired network adapter appears, right
click it to see its status, and enable it if necessary. If the wired
network adapter doesn't appear, click Action > "Scan for hardware
changes" to install it.

not provide drivers for the ethernet card. I do not think that the notebook
is detecting the hardware at all, although when i try connecting an ethernet
cable, the light on my router blinks, so i think that it is functional at
least.

I believe the problem started when i disabled the ethernet card and then
reformatted windows, and afterwards, i do not recall seeing it in the network
connections window. I am thinking of reformatting and reinstalling windows,
but i would like to avoid that. I also think that the hardware is functional,
as it was working a couple days ago, but i think that the laptop refuses to
detect it. I checked the BIOS as well, and there are no problems.

Perhaps you need the ethernet card driver. My laptop has a driver from yet
another software provider to support the ethernet port.

Thus, if you did a clean install, the required driver is not present.

The ethernet card started working by itself after restarting the computer. I
don't know what was wrong, but its working fine now. Thanks for the help!
