LAN Cards disappeared

My lan cards do not show under "My Network Places" since
applying MS03-026 hot fix. Devices show in device manager
and are working properly. Any suggestions?

Erm as far as I know your lan cards shouldnt show on a double-click of My
Network Places. They should show on a right-click -> Properties of My
Network Places... but that doesn't take you to My Network Places... it takes
you to the network and dialup connections control panel.

When I right-click and choose properties, the only icon
available is "create new connection". I've scheduled a
reboot tonight, but I'm hoping there's something else to
look at in case the reboot does not resolve the problem.

Thanks for the response!

If you do an ipconfig /all does it show everything?

and does everything work on the system?

Are you running a Dell with Openmanage running?

There is only one icon showing under "Network Places".
That icon is "make new connection".
I will reboot the server tonight to see if this resolves
the problem, however I hope to get other suggestions
should this not resolve the problem.

Thanks!

Brian,

Both lan cards show with the ipconfig /all command. The
server is a whitebox (a long story behind this!!) which
does not run any network management software.

Thanks!

ipconfig /all show both network cards with correct
configuration. The server is a whitebox (long story behind
this choice!)and is not running any server management
software.

ok, another weird question. (A reboot will get rid of the problem more then
likely)

But are you running Intel nics and SNMP on the system?
