LABELS

Is there any type of label maker that is compatable with excel? I seems like
we should be able to plug one in - and print a formatted selection directly
from excel to the label printer. I have been told that the DYMO printers all
require data entry and a separate program. I don't want to use mail merge
either. I want to keep it simple so that I can highlight a formatted area and
PRINT->SELECTION directly to the label printer. Any Ideas?

Thanks:

I wanted to avoid a huge process for this activity. I am using a macro to
sequence and archive labels in excel for box storage purposes (100-150 boxes
per month). I created a form to input data into the Excel spreadsheet. Will
Word allow me to use a form for data input? will I be able to run the macro?
I think that this may become a big mess which is why I wanted to stay away
from mailmerge and/or word. I just wich that I coul print a small labe from
excel-It would be so nice.

I think you missed the point, you have everything in Excel,
but you use MS Word to do the actual printing. See

Mail Merge, Printing Labels using Mail Merge with data from Excel
http://www.mvps.org/dmcritchie/excel/mailmerg.htm

If you can't work from a selection in Excel, then perhaps create
another worksheet formatted as you want from your data.

Hi Teddy
I use Mail Merge Helper in word to print out labels from info stored
in Excel (the data source)

First you would need to decide on a label size to suit your needs,
for example I use an A4 page with 21 labels on it (3 across x 7 down)
which gives a label 1.5"w x 2.5"h

Word has many label templates that suit Avery labels
It will take time to setup your first run what with choosing label
sizes\templates etc, etc, but once you know your needs, doing a print
run is quite simple
