L2TP/IPSEC

Preacher Man

I am practicing with my VPN options and I have gotten PPTP to work but not
L2TP. Do I have to setup Incoming/Outgoing IPSEC filters in order for this
to work?

Thanks.

Keep in mind that l2tp requires that the VPN server and client VPN require
computer certificates from a CA that they both trust. The other main
obstacle is that l2tp will not work over NAT, though there is a NAT-T
upgrade in case you are using a Windows 2003 Server as the VPN server. L2tp
does use different port/protocols than pptp and usually at lease 1701 UDP,
500 UDP, and protocol 50 for ESP needs to be allowed.--- Steve
