KVM and display quality

I'm interested in getting a KVM and I'm wondering how people are finding the
display quality with the more affordable kvm's, especially the belkin,
lyncsys and dlink ones linked below:

I have an excellent display from a 9800pro/NEC950+ combo, usually running at
1152/85Hz but sometimes at 1600/75Hz for gaming, or occasional windows use.
The display is very sharp and I don't want any blurring or ghosting. I've
searched reviews but can't find much mention of how the lower line kvm's
affect the image.
Also I use a cordless Logitech MX duo kb/mouse.
I saw a kvm string in this ng but don't want to hijack the thread so I'm
posting new.

Thanks,
Mike P

I guess that's my thread you're referring to.

Sounds like we have very similar setups; I just bought the D-Link
DKVM-2K from NCIX for use with my 9600XT / NEC FE950+.

It seems to work okay so far. Sharpness isn't reduced (at least at
1152 x 864 x 85 Hz). I don't normally run at 1600 x 1200 x 75 Hz,
but I just tried it now with the KVM and it seems about the same
to my untrained eye.

There is one noticeable difference - with the KVM inline, the
brightness is slightly reduced.

I normally run at maximum brightness anyway, so I can't
boost it any more through the monitor controls. You might be
able to overcome this in your video card driver, but that
solution may produce some clipping at the high brightness
pixels.

I run a Belkin 4 port "Consumer" KVM model F1DS104T, and from
experimentation I can say that you only get noticable ghosting if you use
long + cheap video cables. If anyone wants to buy some long cheap vid
cables I've two here that are *expletive deleted*. Seriously though decent
quality and cheap is fine, its only when you add long lengths into the mix
that you'll notice problems.

Thanks bruce (and others). I run my brightness around 20% and contrats
around 85% so that's ok for me; also drivers can be used to increas further
if required I believe.
I have one more question though... does anyone have a 3 button/scroll mouse
with this kvm? I've read of problems with them except for the belkin, which
I've read bad reviews of video quality.
Video is subjective, so I might just stay with a brick and mortar purchase
in case I'm not happy with my choice, but the d-link is looking good, and
i'm ordering from ncix anyway so that will save shipping as well...
Any more information ould be appreciated...

thanks,
Mike
