Korean IME

I had to reinstall the OS (Microsoft XP Home) about a month ago and have not
been able to get the Korean IME to work since then. I enabled it and made
sure that Korean was enabled in MS Office. Specifically, I am using Korean
Input System (MS-IME 2002). Now, I can open MS Word (2002) and select Korean
in the Language bar, but I can't actually type in Korean. At first, at the
bottom of the Word window, it says Korean, but as soon as I press a key it
changes to English and Roman letters rather than Hangul appear. Korean still
is selected in the Language bar. I'm not sure whether the problem is only in
MS word. I seem to remember using other apps with the IME previously, but I
can't remember which ones worked.

Have you also installed WinXp's support for East Asian Languages?
Start > Control Panel > Regional and Language Options > Languages,
Supplemental Language Support > Install files for East Asian Languages.

Well, it was worth a shot.... I'm afraid I'm out of ideas; you might
want to post the problem in the Office-specific newsgroups to see if
anyone there has encountered (and solved) the same sort of problem.

Ah ah...I see. It usually takes a bit more than simply checking a few
boxes to properly enable East Asian languages IME's. See if these can help:

Thanks for your help. The odd thing is that it worked fine before I had to
reinstall the OS, and I don't think I'm doing anything differently this time.
As far as I can tell, it should be working. I guess MS software is just
temperamental.
