Kiosk Machine

Neil Davey

Hi folks,

I'm trying to set up a kiosk style machine using Win2000 and a program
created in Toolbook, (aargh!) I'm getting a Windows error message that
a Google search finds no references to:

_________

The Windows User Interface Error

The Windows User Interface could not be started. Please contact your
system administrator.
Click OK to logoff the current session.
_________

I've done the required from
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q198771
(realising it was created for NT originally).

I've set the Shell to run the required application, rather than
Explorer at:

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

Shell: runapp c:\folder\application.exe

Application.exe runs and can be used normally but I get this error
message above whenever I login and that's not much use on a public
access touchscreen.

Any ideas why? Thanks!

Cheers

Neil

Thanks. Have you viewed any of the sites found in that search yourself
and found one which might be useful in this case? Most that I've
checked so far have no relevance to my problem but rather something
like a list of books entitled "Windows User Interface", "Toolbook
stuff" "Common errors", etc.

Looks like neither one of us has the time.

That may be the case for you, I've already spent several hours over
the last month searching the internet for any clue to this error
message. I've gone through a lot of links, including many from the
search you suggested - all without finding anything useful. If someone
suggests a specific search term I would have hoped they had checked it
first, rather than randomly suggesting something when I've already
pointed out that a Google search comes up with no references to this
particular error message.

Cheers
