keystroke repeat and display size

Gabrielle A. Grun

Hi All,

I am currently using an IBM ThinkPad running Windows XP.

The most urgent and pressing problem now is that that the keystrokes repeat
uncontrollably. In my old computers running Windows 95 and Me
respectively, the keyboard settings were perfect---the keystrokes did not
normally repeat, and yet, the arrow keys, backspace and delete keys move
smoothly and quickly (I did not use FilterKeys or BouunceKeys before).
The same

Settings that I had in the old computers were entered into the keyboard
configuration of the ThinkPad ion the Control Panel, but the results are
very different. I am using a 12 year old external, IBM PS/2 keyboard
(connected to the ThinkPad by a PS2/USB adapter) to be able to utilize
MouseKeys, as the traackppoint is too difficult for me to use. Please try
and ask around if anyone at IBM can help me.

The other thing is tthat I would like to increase the point size in dialog
boxes, radio option selectors, selection bars, check boxes, etc. from size
9 or 10 to size 14. I have tried adjusting all the fields under the advanced
Appearance properties of tthe Display on the Control Panel without success.
Thanks for helping.

Go to Start/Control Panel/Keyboard and change the repeat
rate.
The most urgent and pressing problem now is that that the
keystrokes repeat uncontrollably.

On the Appearance tab of Display Properties you have to
change "Windows and Buttons" to Windows Classic Style
first. The Advanced settings don't work with Windows XP
Style.
The other thing is tthat I would like to increase the point size in dialog
boxes, radio option selectors, selection bars, check boxes, etc. from size
9 or 10 to size 14. I have tried adjusting all the fields under the advanced

Hi Kel,

I have already set the repeat rate in the Control Panel. It does not matter
how low the repeat rate is set, the keystrokes still repeat. If I alter the
keyboard delay setting, the keys hesitate, and the arrow keys will move the
cursor slowly.

About the display, I am already using the Windows Classic style.

Hi Gabrielle,

i have the same Problem with a Sony Vaio and a Compaq. It's a problem
of the PS/2 to USB - Adapter. At home i use a Belkin an everything
works fine. Real Plug 'n Play. Now i have a second Adapter (Manhattan,
http://www.note-book.de/IMG/Manhattan/394966.jpg) and with this one i
get the same problem.

I have reinstalled OS (98se, W2K, XP) on a blank HD for testing, but
this dosn't help.

If you find a solution, please let me know.

Bye,
Peter
