For instances where a re-install is required, one doesn't need to download
the packages again. Also, since all the updates are in one package,
installation of the hotfixes becomes far easier.

Ben, you sure are a mind reader. I just got the official Microsoft disk
via Purolator last week, free. Microsoft also threw in a second disk,
shich includes one year free of Etrust's anti-virus and firewall. I
have not installed the AV or firewall yet, because my Motherboard came
with one year free McAffe AV, and I use the Kerio firewall; I will
probably use the E-trust freebie for a year after McAfee expires,
though.
BTW, the Microsoft Security Update CD that MS sent is good for P, ME,
2000 Pro, 98, and 98SE.

Or you could order the free Microsoft Security Update CD which has all
the updates as of 1/04. You can order from:

IIiif these are 'safe copies' , can the updates be installed
individually or only 'as a job lot'? I know people are not happy with
wmp9.

All these fixes already contained in either SP1 or the latest WinXP
