Keys do not work

I have Outlook 2007 and compose messages in HTML format. Sometimes, in
the Compose window, when I try to do Ctrl + Left Arrow to jump to the
previous word, nothing happens. I have to press Ctrl + Left Arrow
several times for the editor to actually respond.

I've tried the Word NG since I thought that Outlook 2007 used Word for
its compose window, but it turns out that it does not.

Every other application on the system (including word) works perfectly fine.

What am I missing?

if it takes a few presses for it to work, its not a word or outlook problem.
If its only this key press which has this problem, its not word or
outlook... if typing in general is slow, its outlook.
