Keyboard usage

This is not really a question just for XP but all windows I think.

Does anyone have a link to a site that might tell me how to use the
keyboard when no mouse is present? I want to know how to move the cursor
around the screen, how to move the focus to a different window, how to
scroll a window etc. all with just the keyboard. I am having trouble
with my shoulder from constant mouse use and want to try using the
keyboard more but can't remember many shortcuts and I've never
discovered how to scroll a window anyway. I've also never worked out how
to choose an item that is underlined eg. I want to shut down the
computer so I hit the windows key but then how do I get to "Turn off the
computer" with the u underlined?

I say when no mouse is present because sometimes friends ask what to do
when their mouse fails.

I was also wondering if I can shut down a computer with the keyboard
when the mouse appears frozen or is the whole computer frozen and
nothing working?

I searched for the answer to this a while back but results were for no
mouse or keyboard. Even some hints on what search words to use would be
good.

Like I said, I did try Google. In the past when I searched I never ended
up at a site that actually told you how to navigate round once you got
something opened like a menu, even in windows help. Alright so now I
know to use the arrow keys (which I'm sure hasn't worked in the past)
but I did at the end of my post ask for some search hints. I've never
asked a question anywhere without first spending at least 30 minutes
Googling (slow dialup) so there was no need to reply in that mightier
than thou tone.

Now I get to go Googling more to learn what .hta files are

HTA are web pages. Naming them as hta rather than html allows them to run as if they are programs. You can rename it to html and it will become a web page.

When it was started the reason was to make it like a reference program, it's started life about 8 years ago. However since XP SP2, XP really only allow full functionality if it's named hta (without weeks of configuring IE to make it work as a web page)

I had a fun time this morning reading up on it and playing with it.
Amazing that I'd never heard of it before and yet it's so handy and a
nice way to present stuff.

Nice - very comprehensive.

Any chance you can publish that on some web site? (If it is already, I
couldn't find it.)
