Keyboard Space bar is the enter key

OK folks, I have a machine that no matter what keyboard
is being used, when you press the space bar it acts as an
enter key. There used to be the keyboards with a split
space key, and there was a key sequence to turn the left
side of that into an enter key, and the right one being
the space key. I can't find anything on the web with
what the sequence used to be. Any help on getting my
space bar back?

Hi ... Have you try to uninstall the program for your keyboard ?? And then
reinstall with whichever you like to use ... View your add and remove
programs area .... click start >>> control Panel >> add and remove programs

Don't know if this will help you, but I found the following... Go to
Control Panel>Keyboard>Buttons tab. In lower-right (above Cancel and Apply)
is a bar labeled "Restore Defaults". Click it, then Apply and OK to close.
Repeat, this is a guess, I never used it,so use if comfortable trying.

The Keyboard is NOT under Add/Remove programs. Go to Start/Control Panel/
Keyboard/hardware tab/Properties/Driver tab
There you can uninstall your old/split keyboard driver or update. Best is to
delete the driver, shutdown your PC, reboot, then plug in new keyboard.
WindowsXP's plug&play feature will find/load new keyboard or ask for driver
disk.

OK folks, but here is an update, there is nothing in add
and remove programs, and when removing the keyboard
driver and rebooting, it still is the same. Still same
issue even when you restart and it reloads the driver.
(From CD, I deleted keyboard.sy_ out of the i386 dir.)
So had to install fresh from CD.

There used to be the keyboards with a split space bar,
and there was a key sequence, like LEFTSHIFT-CTRL-ENTER,
or something like that where you could turn the one on
the left into an enter key keeping the one on the right
as the space bar. Does anyone know or remember what that
sequence was? That's what i need to change it back to a
simple space. :(

(FYI, you get the keyboard software in Add and Remove
Programs when the keyboard has special buttons that you
want to map to launch programs. Logitech has it, and a
lot of the vendor specific keyboards come with it
preinstalled now, so sometimes it will be there.)

Thanks

Hi Lee,

This still sounds hotkey related or a malfunctioning keyboard. Have you
tried another one? In the meantime, the key in question is located here:
Start/Run/Regedit
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Kbdclass
