Keyboard producing wrong symbols

B

Ben

Hi ALl,

Having trouble with our IBM keyboard that came with our
computer.

The symbols above the numbers produce the wrong symbols.
Instead of the <at> symbol I get <"> when I press shift 2.

Anyone know how to change this?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Ben, as you get the <"> symbol when you type @ your keyboard is setup for
the United Kingdom rather than USA.
Go to Control panel and click on the Regional and language options icon.
When the window opens click the Languages tab. In the text services and
input languages section click the details button. When the text services and
input languages window opens you will see a section marked default input
language. In the dialog box you will probably see 'English (United Kingdom).
Click the green arrow on the right of the box and see if a drop down menu
appears. If it does click on the English (United States) option. If that
option is not available click the Add button in the section Installed
Services. The Add input language option window will appear. Again click the
green arrow on the right of the dialog box and choose the language you want
from the drop down menu. Finally click the OK button to close the add input
language window. Next click the Apply button on the text services and input
languages window followed by OK to close that window. That will take you
back to the regional and language options window. Here click the Apply
button followed by the OK button to close the window. Your keyboard should
now be set for US.
