Keyboard killed after removing Logitech Setpoint

I uninstalled Setpoint, using the normal Add/Remove software process, from
my HP zv5000z laptop (AMD-64, WinXP Pro Sp2) and on Windows restart at the
login screen the keyboard does not work and I cannot enter my password.

This is the built-in keyboard, not an external keyboard (either USB or
PS2). The mouse (Logitech wireless optical) still works, as does the Alps
keypad.

I uninstalled Setpoint because it seemed to kill the button setting to get
a double-click from pressing the scroll wheel, and I wanted to get back to
an earlier, simpler Mouseware that worked.

Now I want to know if there's any way I can get my keyboard back without
having to re-install XP. Needless to say, I sure won't be installing
Setpoint again.

I have the OEM XP Pro install CD, but it is Sp1. My other computer (this
old Dell Inspiron) does not have a CD burner so I cannot use it to burn a
slipstreamed Sp2 install CD.

Any suggestions on a way to repair this situation?

Can you boot to safe mode by stabbing F8 key during boot up?
If so, run System Restore from safe mode, and go back to before you
removed setpoint.

good luck.

Do you mean Safe Mode will bypass the Windows Login screen, and thus not
require me to type in a password? The inability to type in a password at
login is my problem.
