keyboard keys changed in outlook 2007

When in outlook 2007 alot of the higher keys (shift+ key) are moved to others
that don't correspond to the leyboard layout.

Example Shift + 2 is @ not " and to find @ I had to enter Shift + 2.

How can I reset the settings to work in outlook 2007 as it is layed out on a
general keyboard. This doesn't happen in other office 2007 programs like word
2007

Sounds like you have multiple keyboard layouts configured in Windows. Remove
the ones that you do not use;
Control Panel-> Regional and Language Options-> tab Keyboards and
Languages-> Change Keyboards...
