keyboard failure during post

I have recently set my computer up to dual boot. It worked fine for about a
week but now when it posts and highlights which os to boot to my keyboard
does not respond to any commands. So it boots to whichever is first. Once
there the keyboard responds normally. The os's are the same both xp home on
diff. hard drives. I have tried uninstall and reinstall drivers but that
didn't solve it. Any ideas????

Thanks.

Hi Bill,

Did the keyboard ever work correctly in this dual boot scenario, of
did the problem just start?

Is the keyboard connection PS2 or USB?

Replace the keyboard. I have seen this with multiple modern Intel
motherboards in a lab - existing keyboards wouldn't work for BIOS access but
were OK once XP had booted.

the dual boot worked fine until about two hours ago. never had trouble with
accessing and making changes in bios or anything else. usb keyboard. tried
the usual...unplugging and plugging, drivers, checking keyboard with diff
computer, all ok. I am using the same win xp disc for both boots but had
been told microsoft is ok with multiple install on same computer.

Check to see if you "turned off" "legacy USB" support in you BIOS - I have
to have mine turned on to use my USB keyboard before the OS has booted - as
when you are trying to choose an OS in a multiboot system, only the BIOS and
bootstrap code has loaded.
