KERNEL32.DLL error after removing adware

Samantha

I am hoping someone can help me with this problem. I
found adware on my pc, purchased McAfee Spyware remover,
and Firewall Plus, it removed the adware. Now I cannot
open MS Internet Explorer or any MS IE based program
(can't view My Computer, My Pictures, etc., or any browser
run programs). Afterwards, I went to the adware website,
and it stated that the adware should only be removed by
downloading their removal file, otherwise other programs
may not work. When I try to open IE after a pause, I
receive an error msg stating that it cannot be opened and
would I like to send the error report to MS. When I click
on "more info" it mentions KERNEL32.DLL as the problem.
Any suggestions?
Also, I downloaded Netscape in the interim. It too has an
error and only opens certain pages, for instance, when I
try to view my web based email, each time I click on on a
message, the page says "done" but the screen is blank?
I'd appreciate any feedback.

Thanks in advance,
Samantha

[Ah, good ol' McAfee products! <g>]

And the adware was...?

Check your system for "hijackware" the right way:

CoolWebSearch Chronicles

Run these tools in the following order with nothing else running in
background:

1. CWShredder (fix all found)

2. Ad-Aware (fix all found)

3. Spybot (RTFM but generally fix everything in red)

Important: You *must* seek updates for Ad-Aware, Spybot, etc., before each
and every use, even "right out of the box". But even they can't catch
everything, 24/7. When all else fails, HijackThis
(http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/HijackThis.exe) is the preferred
tool to use. It will help you to both identify and remove any
hijackware/spyware. **Post your files to http://forums.spywareinfo.com/ or
http://forum.aumha.org/viewforum.php?f=30 for expert analysis, not here.**

[Alternate download pages for many of the above tools may be found at
http://aumha.org/a/parasite.htm.]

Also update your virus definitions and then run a full system scan. From
now on, do both daily.

So How Did I Get Infected Anyway?
