Keep "unread" messages marked as unread? Outlook 2003

Is there a way to keep unread messages forever marked as unread and
bold till you physically open the message? Everything I see only does
it for a period of time. Thanks! -Keith

Tools>Options>Other>Reading Pane

Doesn't work. It will still "mark as read" eventually, even without
those boxes checked. I'm looking for a solution that will never mark
an item as read - that will always keep it marked as unread.
