KB960714 update problems!!!

Hi

I installed kb960714 update and all was fine until i rebooted. After i
logged into Windows XP Pro SP3, the desktop disapeared after about 5
seconds and was replaced by a two tone bright screen which went black.

I fixed it by doing a repair install and reinstalling all the updates
except kb960714...

Did anyone else experienced this? What is going on?

I did not use Windows Update this time. I simply downloaded kb960714
and installed it and rebooted the computer. I was able to log on to
Windows w/o issue. I wonder what caused the blank screen?
