try as i want i keep getting an error each time i try to install the critical
update., even downloading the update as "Windows6.0-KB941569-x86.msu " and
still no joy.
am i at fault, is there something wrong with the update. i am using vista
buisness and office 2007. i have used microsofts own programme to check for
malicious software and i have norton 360. can any one suggest where if
anywhere i am going wrong because there is a tray icon which keeps telling me
to down load a new critical update. Ha Ha.
can any one suggest what is going wrong??

Norton is a pain. Uninstall via their uninstall tool available from the Symantec site and then try the update. Re install Norton after if successful (update). Or you can install something like Avast or AVG which is more compatible with Vista

The meaning of 0x80070246 is:

An illegal character was encountered. For a multi-byte character set this
includes a lead byte without a succeeding trail byte. For the Unicode
character set this includes the characters 0xFFFF and 0xFFFE.

I don't think it is his situation.

i find norton OK and this is a problem which has just occured. all other
updates have gone on without a hitch.
