kazaa.com at startup

Tina Shaner

Since day 1 of installing this product, I get this message:

Windows Hosts File alert

Occured on: 6/16/2005 at 6:49:50 AM

The entry desktop.kazaa.com pointing to IP address
127.0.0.1 has been automatically been denied permission to
be added to the Windows Hosts file. This Hosts file change
was blocked based on your previous input.

I have blocked it, only because I know kazaa is a way to
get easily infected and I am paranoid after my daughter
picked up the Trojan.Vundo virus. Should I go ahead and
let kazaa add to my Windows Hosts file? It seemed like I
have many entries pointing to 127.0.0.1. Forgive me if
this is a super-basic question, but I am new to all of this
virus/Trojan stuff.

Hi

Kazaa comes bundled with spyware so uninstall Kazaa
and let MSAS remove bundled spyware.

Important !!! move all files from "My shared folder" before
removal otherwise you will have an really angry/sad daughter.

This p2p app is spyware free:

Limewire, No 2.

Also reset your hosts file with this tool:
http://members.aol.com/toadbee/hoster.zip

Unzip, install the program and run it.
Press *Restore Original Hosts* and press OK*

Hi Tina,

use Hoster 1.6 and simply press 'Restore Original Hosts'
to reset it to the microsoft default host file.If you are
getting entries added without your consent then you may
have a virus or other malware running on your pc.What
sort of sites are in the hostfile?.Do you have Kazaa
media desktop installed or kazaa lite ?.If you use hoster
1.6 press copy to clipboard first then you can paste them
back here.

You can get Hoster Here :

http://andymanchesta.com/Downloads2/hoster.zip

save to desktop then extract and run hoster.exe to view
and reset the hosts file.
