K8V SE Deluxe hard drive issues

I'm running an AMD64 3200 on a K8V SE Deluxe MB with 1.5GB of RAM.
Everything was running fine for well over 6 months until recently, my hard
drives appear to shut down then start up, shut down, start up, etc. This
will go on for a while. Sometimes the machine will freeze and require a
manual reboot, others it will go through the motions then stop on its own.
There doesn't seem to be any discernible pattern to when it will occur.
I've done memory tests and drive diagnostics yet no problems are detected.
I flashed the BIOS with the latest release (1005). Still no improvement.
Has anyone else experienced this? If so, what is it? Is the disk
controller going? Could it be a BIOS configuration issue? Assistance is
greatly appreciated.

I had a similiar symptom. It was related to lack of power from my power
supply. I got a stronger one from Antec. My ATI Radeon 9800 Pro AIW was
sucking a lot more power and HDD didn't get enough.

Have you tried a stronger power supply? Get a good brand name like Antec.
