Just Waiting and Waiting, and ...

Ok, if anyone is like me, you are sitting there with your trigger finger on
the mouse clicking between 2-3 windows trying to get to RC2. While on the
other end, there is a geek at MS with his trigger finger on the mouse eating
hot pockets and drinking Red Bull hovering over his launch button giggling
knowing we are all out here waiting for it. Being that I work this
afternoon, I hope I don’t miss that brief window that MS is going to offer.
So, with that said, I was wondering. I have 5728 sitting here. I have not
installed it because I like to see the reviews prior to installing the builds
(With the exception of RC1, which I “hadâ€ ïŠ to install due to a crashed
computer.) I have seen a lot of pros and cons. But was wondering your
honest opinion, if I was unable to get RC2, will it be worth installing 5728?
What additions has anyone seen since 5600? Are there any compat. problems
that have been fixed? I mean we all have hardware and software that was not
compat. With RC1, so has anyone noticed their hardware/software suddenly
working with 5728?
How about the GUI? Is there any noticeable differences? I know one I would
like to see is to take that stupid Delete butting off the Recycle Bin. I
know it is a little thing, but I delete the recycle Bin so many times and
have to place it back on the desktop. I mean the Empty is just fine, and if
you want to remove it from the desktop, go to personalize. Just my personal
idea.

So, lets hear it. I would like to see what is SO different between builds
that warrants another upgrade/install. Thanks in advance.

The biggest difference I have between versions is xbox 360 compatibility with
their media center.

RC1 xbox 360 connects fine but is laggy and Transcode 360 doesn't work so I
cant stream divx to it.

5728 media center is screwed big time and most people simply cant get
anything streaming to their 360.

According to the Transcode 360 site, the problems with using Transcode 360
and Vista are acknowledged by MS and is supposed to be working on newer
inhouse builds at MS and the fixes are due to be included in the next release.

If this turns out to be true, then I really really want to get my hands on RC2

In my little corner of the world - 5600 Build worked better than 5728
---less hardware issues with printer and scanner---
I will try RC2 if I can - I dual boot to XP so I have nothing to lose.

PUSH THE BUTTON you little geeky hot pocket-eating,
Red Bull drinking, giggling-nerd - please.

My thoughts are if you are testing a program why would you not get the latest
build? Keeping an older one doesn't benefit the people you are helping test.
*shrug*

Unfortunately, I heard that RC2 will not be a public download. But I've
seen a conflicting report here and there. We'll just have to wait and see I
guess.

And on the other side, Build 5728 works like a champ on my notebook.

After testing, I upgraded my production notebook from XP PRO to Vista RC1
Build 5728 and have been happy with it ever since.

IMO, 5728 runs faster and is more compatible with apps.

RCtwooooooooooo....let's go!!!!
