Yeah, it's a program most parents neglect. It's called "Talk to your
children" and it's free.

If you are expecting reading logs -after the fact- to protect your kids from
being exposed in the first place then methinks you need to grasp the concept
of sequential events.

"yep... yep... 13:42:08... some perv from 192.168.1.88 sent a naughty
picture to my kid that screwed him up for life. Let's see... at that moment
instead of noticing that my kid was surfing to www.g04ts3x I was watching my
soap opera. Gosh I'm a great parent."

For some requirements, you may find it easier to invest in a
3rd-party solution, such as NetNanny or CyberPatrol.

You need to be aware, however, that *NO* technical or software
solution is fool-proof, and _none_ can ever adequately take the place of
live adult supervision. If you cannot trust your children to
safely/properly use the computer without supervision, you may have to
consider limiting their access to it.

You cant stop your kids from chatting with people you do "not" know, as
long as they have ACS to a PC.

These are the rules in my house:

1) Don't allow them a PC in their room that has internet access.

2) If they surf, have them do it in the living room where
they can be monitored constantly.

3) Don't allow "Chatting" under any circumstance.

4) If they complain, Don't allow them on the PC exept to do homework
Monitor them accordingly. You are the adult, You rule your house, no
your kids.

And the answer is: Not that I know of, Not for free anyway. AOL ha
pretty good controls, however, it's not free.

That reveal that you don't trust your children and are an autoritarain twit:

Why, because you don't trust them?

Gaining the trust of you children is free if you know how to do it. You
obviously never will.

Now let me see if I have this straight: you want to protect your
children but you are too damn cheap to pay for a program that will
help you do it?

If that's the case, set up the PC in the living room where you can see
the screen, and just monitor what they are doing! Probably easier
than poring through logs anyway!
