junk email has a mind of it's own

Phil

Help would be appreciated.

Using Outlook from Office 2000.

Some mail I want is being diverted stright to the junk mail folder. I
get the new mail box, not mail in the inbox and the new mail in junk.

In the past this meant that I had accidentally sent an email to junk.
I go to the list and delete the entry, but in this case, there is no
entry to deleye, but it still is sent to junk.

I have had to turn my junk filter off.

Any idea where this is located and how to flush it so I can get this
mail normally?

TIA

Well now, this really is a problem because Outlook 2000 doesn't even HAVE a
junk mail folder. If you see one, it's being added by some third party
scanner. It is that add-in causing the problem. Don't you remember what
antispam product you installed?

Thank you for your response. Unfortunately, it is not relevent as to
whether or not the folder is original or not, although I have no
memory of creating it.

If it didn't exist, the emails would still be refused by junk mail's
filter. Keep in mind that they come through fine when the filter is
off, so the filter is clearly the culprit.

I may try removing the list of banned emails. Maybe there is a hidden
relationship in some weird way. It would be nice to solve this without
having to remove them and begin again. I have no way of being sure
that even this would help.

By the way, no other anti-spam product and as I said, I get the emails
with only turning off the junk email filter.

Outlook has a rudimentary junk filter. It does recognize some strings in
the body of the message (and those strings are unalterable) and it does have
the "Junk Senders" and "Adult Senders" lists (which are both text files and
easily edited with Notepad), but the default action for Outlook 2002's junk
filter is to simply color the subject lines of incoming messages that it
detects as junk. It doesn't move anything anywhere. If you are getting new
mail moved to a Junk E-mail folder, then either you've created a rule to do
that, or you have an add-in apart from Outlook doing it. Outlook simply
doesn't do that on its own.

First, thank you for your patience!

I have already gone through both lists both in the available window
and through notepad. The email addresses are not in the list. I am
tempted to empty the file and start again asmost spammers don't use
the same address twice anyway.

I will check for a "rule". Maybe I accidentally created one. Where
would I look?

TIA
