Jumping Mouse

Running XP SP3 with logitech wireless mouse. Mouse has been working
properly for over a year. Recently the mouse pointer jumps from one part
of the screen to another. Then it works properly again. A while later
the problem repeats. I've pressed the button to re- synchronize the
mouse, but it does not alleviate the problem. Ran anti-virus, as well as
malware detector programs and Norton Windoctor. Nothing seems to solve
the problem.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Mine did the same ; went to mouse in control panel and found I still
had microsoft mouse ( previous mouse ) listed . Clicked on that and
did uninstall which cleared the problem .

Have you changed the battery in the mouse? Have you moved the receiver to a
new place on your desk, such as under a monitor, near a UPS, etc?

Did you recently change your mousepad? If you're using a shiny one, or
one that's too smooth, that could be the problem. A porous, dull
surface is best.

Very often, a jumping mouse cursor has little to do with problems directly
attributable to the mouse or its drivers..

Scan for malware.. update your video drivers..

Thanx to all who responded. None of the suggestions made a difference.
However, suddenly the problem seems to have cured itself ... ??? Ain't
technology wonderful
