Jpegs becoming aspx files

This is going to be long, boring and possibly make it seem as though I am
insane.

Recently my computer had a complete restore done to it.
All of the pictures that come in through email are saved as aspx files. I
have no clue what an aspx file is except for they are a pain in my hiney.
I do not want my photos saved that way. I want them saved as jpegs like they
were before. We ahve gone through the entire save as walk through and even
though they are saved as jpegs they download as aspx. Not good. I use firefox
but they said issue os not with them. I cannot get help on other forums.
Just restore, save as jpeg etc all been there done that.
I want to know how this change occurred, why it would have and how do I get
my old set up back. We have tried everything. Uninstalling and reinstalling
firefox, putting a aspx repair reg program on my computer. I am jsut lost. I
keep trying searchies for any information and can find absolutely nothing
that can answer any of my questions. PLEASE HELP!

Since you are posting in a WinXP newsgroup...I'll assume you are running XP.

Might be worth a try to use following free utility to reset your image
associations.

Utility to fix image file associations
http://windowsxp.mvps.org/imgassofix.htm

If you decide to try it...let us know the result.

Google search reveals that .aspx files are Windows Media metafiles. That
description does no mesh with jpg files.

Refer to KB316992.

I would suspect that something went wrong during the rebuild because these
things are text files.
