Journal - how do I record/update historical files, email, etc.

I just started using the journal feature and want to track emails, tasks,
etc. with colleagues in my office. We have an exchange server. Can I "go
back" historically to record events in a journal that includes this info to
construct a journal history?

After furious head scratching, Larry G asked:

You would need to create a public journal folder and then create a journal entry item for each historical event you want to track. Rather a lot of work.
