Join Workgroup then back to Domain

I have a domain controller W2000, I also have two servers W2000 that are in a
workgroup that I want to join the domain. the problem is if the applications
that are on the server ( it also has software licensing for the workstations
) don't work after I have them join them to the domain, can I set these
servers back to the workgroup they were originally in without problems.
thanks

Maybe some one can help you if you provide a description of the software and
what it is supposed to do, and what it does instead.

Error messages from event viewer would help also.

thanks for your reply!

the first question is can it be done. Can you join a server to a domain
then back it out and put it back in a workgroup without messing up the server
(O/S, network connectivity etc..) ? I thought I read somewhere you couldn't
but it may have been it said once you make a domain a domain you can't back
it out.

as far as the software, the workstations relys on the server for it's
floating license. Since it points to the server name I would think since I'm
not changing the name just the location then it shouldn't be an issue.

which would bring me to another question since a workstation is mapped to
the server say serverx\data\files as long as the path stays the same then
the mapping will still stay intack

Yes you can.

Without an error message or a description as to *what* exactly happens, I
can only guess what happens.
Permissions?

And your question is?

You still haven't given enough information about what is happening for
anyone to make a educated guess as to how to fix it.
