Jetway 867AS Motherboard CPU Settings

Hi

I have a Jetway 876AS Motherboard with an AMD XP 1700 processor. I was
hoping to upgrade to a XP 2.4Ghz with 266Mhz FSB and was wondering if
anybody could tell me if there are any dip switches which need to be
adjusted on the board or does it self detect the processor. I can't find
the user manual so am in a bit of bother.

Thanx in advance.

Jim.

Are you certain it's an "876AS"?
There are several manuals at their website but not 876... you might check
the manuals for a few similarly-named boards as they may share same
settings, but exercise caution about voltage jumpers if there are any,
since missetting a multiplier or FSB/Mem speed setting isn't likely to
cause damage as a voltage mis-setting would.

However, since both CPUs have same FSB speed and that the multiplier
"should" be autodetected, as well as the voltage, you should be able to
just install the new CPU and not change anything, provided the bios is set
to use "auto" values, not user-set parameters for CPU multiplier, FSB,
memory, etc.

If you're using an old bios there's a very good chance it will mis-detect
the cpu, or perhaps simply display it's operational MHz speed instead of
the "XP(nnnn)" name. If a newer bios is available it would be good to
update bios prior to switching CPUs, then load the bios defaults.

You will need Adobe Reader version6 with Chinese Language
support in order to read the manual. Looks like you'll have lots of
jumpers to move.
