Jet Database Engine Stops

L

Larry Bohen

Occasionally, in MS Access 2003, I get the following message:

"The MS Jet Database Engine stoped the process because you and another user
are attempting to change the same data at the same time."

When this occurs, there are no other users and there are no other Access
based programs open.

What is causing this message?

How to prevent?

NOTE: Compacting and repairing the db seems to get rid of the issue for a
while.

If you are sure that there isn't another user, then the other user is you.
If you have multiple forms open to the same page of records (that includes a
form with a subform open to that record) you will get that message when
switching back and forth during the editing process. The solution, in this
case is to make sure that only one form can be editing and that your record
locks are set to "No Locks" (Tools ... Options ... Advanced tab)
