Javascript errors and can't open link

Hi,

When I click a link on any site that is coded with javascript, nothing
happens. I get many "Done, but with errors" messages with the error icon
down on the status bar.

This happens on multiple domains and multiple sites, so I can't
narrow it down to just bad javascript code on any one site.

I usually had no problem and can't figure out when this starting happening
and if I installed something that is causing the error.

I currently have Win XP Pro SP 2, IE6sp1 and also have Microsoft VM and Java
J2RE 1.4.2_01...if that helps.

I don't know if this is related but I also couldn't get anywhere when
I clicked on the "New Post" icon for the web-based MS newsgroups...I had
to download the newsgroups using OE and go in that way.

Some of the different sites I have problems on:

http://www.optionsexpress.com
http://www.elance.com
http://www.sunbriteleds.com/product.asp?id=1001 (click on the part number)
http://www.reseauvoltaire.net/bushregimedeck.html
(click on the cards)

I've turned off scipt debugging. I get a "Error on page" in the status bar
on most of these.

I also reinstalled MS scripting engine 5.6 and reinstalled IE6. No help
with either one.

Thanks for any recommendations.

I am having this same exact problem. Any page that uses
Javascript to launch a new window does not load properly.
IE 6 was working with no problem but now no pages work
properly. I couldn't send this post with IE either, I am
using Opera. I have XP with the latest service pack. I
installed the latest IE patches. I have done full virus
scans and am coming up clean. How can we fix our IE?

I had that problem but Microsoft has an article in the
knowledge base # 180176 which outlines how to re-register
certain DLL's. I re-registered actxprxy.dll and
shdosvw.dll and I am now working perfectly. You,
however, may have to re-register (with regsrvr32) any or
all of the following:
oleaut32.dll, mshtml.dll or pdm32.dll

Good Luck !!!

Bruce,

I already tried using: Regsvr32 urlmon.dll and also sfc /scannow to
reinstall
IE6. But, no help. However, I have discovered the root cause of the
problem!

For anyone not being able to fully access websites heavily coded
with jScript, especially to open new links:

******** Please check your virus software for script blocking *********

I use Norton and somehow my script blocking setting was set to "Stop
all suspicous activities and do not prompt me" -- what that translates into
for the software is to block any activity including the opening of a new
link(window)
using jScript and it was not prompting me, so I hadn't a clue.

All sites work just fine for me now.

I've always used script blocking but now changed the setting back to "prompt
me".
What's odd is that with the other setting it just flat out blocks
everything.

Sure hope this helps someone else as I suffered with the problem for at
least 1.5 months ...and all the searches never mentioned a thing about
checking your virus software for script blocking.

Ramesh, I do believe that is yours. Do you mind if I hijack it??
I don't mean any disrespect, I think it's a cool little sig.
As long as you don't want any royalties...? ;)
