When starting the computer window comes up saying
Java Virtual Machin
could not find main class. program will exit

How can I rectify this proble

One approach that may succeed...

Install the latest, standard J.V.M. from http://java.sun.com/getjava

Remove the old one first, if found under Control Panel|ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS
