Java applets not loading

L

Lara T.

I just installed XP. Now my computer won't read Java all
the time. What can I do to fix the problem? When I try
(for example) to go to Yahoo games, the applet won't come
up for the community boards, showing who's online. This
means, of course, I can't play. Also having trouble
accessing some sites with Java applets required to sign in
to them. Any help would be appreciated!

You might go to Start/Run and type in "wjview" without the quotes. If it
shows you
less than build 38.10 of the Microsoft's Virtual Machine (java) or none at
all, take a look at this web page for details and download locations:
http://www.mvps.org/inetexplorer/answers_9.htm#java

Also, make sure you visit the Windows Update web site to get your system
current with all the security fixes. It is imperative you are running the
built-in Internet Connection Firewall (take a look in Help and Support for
how to turn it on), and keep on top of all the updates. Also, you can check
http://www.microsoft.com/security/protect/default.asp for information about
how to protect your computer.
