The only other thing I can think of is to download and run network magic on
both computers in question. It’s free for 30 days (and really is just
twiddling all of the various settings in question).

By chance do you have internet connection sharing turned on on the machine
labeled "home"?

I see your switch, but not your router (which is interesting). With the
LLTD responder that I had you install the on the XP machine in another post
you should now be seeing both machines connected (sounds like via switch) to
a router which in turn connects to the internet.

ok for some reason the internet is suddenly working on the old one..so here's
some screenshots of the XP

This is after the update you suggested is installed. Without the LAN2
connected (which is the USB) I dont get internet on here. the LAN3 shows as
100mb/s so I'm guessing that is the LAN I'm trying to connect to.

I'm having the same problem. XP Home Vista home with a wirless laptop
followed all the sujestions in this thread but still no joy.

guys I've got some good news... I fixed it :D everything is running
smoothly. Hey Mark, try creating 2 totally new accounts, administrator with
the same name and pass (put a pass, dont leave it blank) and restart your two
comps. When you get back on, log into the new accounts. That set up the
network for me :D
