Having had various problems, I've managed to change or delete part of the
operating system that relates to system restore.I am unable to restore to a
previous date/point. I do have a recover disc but I don't have any idea what
to do with it.I don't want to loose any of my data and would prefer not to
format my system.I have been informed that the date on 'C' drive can be over
writtern without losing anything.
Please anyone help as what I no about computors I can write on the back of a
postage stamp.
In anticipation....Steve

If it's really true that "what I no about computers I can write on the
back of a postage stamp" then a newsgroup is not for you. You need to
sit down with a live person. A news post is handy for diagnosing and
(hopefully) solving a specific problem, but it's not for hand holding.
Who knows what "various problems" you have or what you've done to
"change or delete part of the operating system". There is no such thing
as the 'date on a C drive'.

Do yourself a favor: Find a professional technician or a knowledgeable
person you trust. And by all means, learn more about using a computer.
You'll save yourself frustration, lost data and money.
