It's like somebody else is using my computer....?!

Links to sites I've not visited are blue. Once I've
clicked on a link to visit a site, the link turns red to
indicate I've recently accessed the site.
OK.
I'm currently using Yahoo! as my home page. They have a
small section dedicated to daily news events, with
usually 6-10 links to various news items.
The past month or so, when I come online and the home
page pops up, I find one, sometimes two, links in the
news section that are red, but I have not clicked on
these links, much less accessed those sites.
It's like somebody else is using my computer while I'm
not looking.
I've talked to my ISP about it, but got the sense that
they really weren't all that interested in investing
their time in this particular can of worms.
Can anybody steer me in a direction that could result in
getting to the heart of this matter; maybe even clearing
it up?
I've downloaded all the critical updates issued by
Microsoft; many before, and some since, this problem has
surfaced.
It feels like a stranger living in my house.
Thanks.
