iteresting video issues with P4P800D - cdn.jpg (0/1)

10 months ago I built this rig with the P4P800 Deluxe.
I used a "BFG TI4200 8x" agp. The system rocked, but the card began
showing flaws within 3 months, even on vga (boot).

RMA'd it for another, this time a "BFG 5900XT".

But I didn't use it, instead I bought a "ATI AIW 9600 pro". Again, it
rocked. I can honestlt say I have never felt crashless bliss like this
system gave me (6 months!)...but...one day it too dispayed screen
corruption (vga boot as well) and I am now rma'ing that one...

Remember that "BFG 5900XT" ? It went in my son's rig (agp 4x board)
and he runs everything on it, very stable (P4PE). But I needed it now
so I swapped it in mine and I was crashing, freezing and when I could
run something, it was pitifully slow. I suspect something with agp 8x,
but I have no setting in the "P4P800D" bios, it is automatic.

Anyways, I am now running another "XFX TI4200 4x" card and, well, as I
type everything seems rosy again. So now I have questions:

-Is my board giving bad voltage to these cards ? Or is it dumb luck ?
I mean 2 video cards pooped in less than a year ? (both agp 8x
cards...)

-Why does the "BFG 5900XT" rock in the P4PE (4x agp) but grinds the
P4P800D (8x agp) down the tubes ? Seems like agp 8x keeps popping up
alot doesn't it...?

-Maybe some asus boards ie: P4P800D (or above) have some incompatible
8x agp slots?

I didn't list system specs as I have ruled out most all other
possibilities, including ps and ups...

Comments welcome !
