It only refreshes the inbox/outbox when I click on any folder

Outlook has an annoying problem...it only refreshes the
inbox/outbox when the user clicks on the view or any
other folder in Outlook. It does send/receive messages
as usual...but the Inbox won't list any new messages and
the Outbox shows it is still waiting to send out the
message until I click on the Inbox/Outbox view or any
other folders. Have you ever seen something like this
before?

What OS? If XP, do you have your firewall enabled? If another OS version, do
you have a firewall installed? Is there a router/switch with VLANs between
you and the server? Is this happening to all users?

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to
the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.

After searching google.groups.com and finding no answer,
(e-mail address removed) asked:

OS is 2000 and XP, this is happing even when you
send/recive email from/to internall users. a few peopel
are having this problem. I worked on one user such as
install, reinstalloffice or apply SP, didn't help. for
one user it went t away by itself!!!. the 2nd one it was
like this for a day, but now is aweek and didn't go
away!!!.
