with losing anything on the new install ??
and why dose vista dip the moniter to black when you are installing
programs or exiting them ??
plus i like the way vista saves most of the files on the hdd like my ipod
folder but it would great if vista would remember or save ones address book
and favorites folder it would be very helpful

Nic,

1.) Yes you can delete the OLD Windows folder if you will never need to go
back to it.

2.) That "dip to black" is one of two things, either the application you are
installing does not support the Advanced Vista display (Aero Glass) and to
protect the GUI, Vista is reverting to standard Aero. Or that is the UAT
kicking in warning you that Windows needs to use an Admin level account to
do something. If it's the UAT kicking in you should have also got a warning
dialogue box about said access.

3.) Make sure you get this feedback to Microsoft!
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvista/community/default.mspx its vital so
they can make all the changes and enhancements we need! I cannot stress how
important this is. People would be amazed how much Microsoft REALLY listens
to the end user! Your feedback is an important part of Vista.
